| Truncated Setting Plugs |
N/A
Truncated extra length setting plugs insure more perfect size. Truncated set plug is the same as full-form set plug except with crest of thread removed for approximately one-half length of gage, giving a full and truncated portion. The full portion insures correct clearance and forms at major diameter of ring. Truncated portion controls pitch diameter. When using truncated setting plug, thread ring gage should be set on the full form of the set plug. The ring should then be turned on the truncated form, and the "feel" should be the same as on the full form. If there is a "shake" on the truncated form, this will indicate that the thread form of the ring is unsatisfactory and should be discarded, or if possible, repaired by relapping. |
